Going Live

Step-by-step guide to streaming with DualStream.

Ready to go live? Here's exactly how.

Before You Stream

  1. Connect a platform — Link your Twitch, YouTube, or Kick account in the Stream Setup modal, or have a custom RTMP URL ready.
  2. Set up your scene — Add sources (camera, display, browser, etc.) and arrange them on the canvas.
  3. Check your audio — Verify your mic and desktop audio levels in the Master Volume section of the Inspector Panel.

Starting Your Stream

  1. Click the Play button in the Toolbar (bottom of the viewport).
  2. The Stream Setup modal opens.
  3. Select which platform(s) to stream to.
  4. Choose your canvas — horizontal (16:9), vertical (9:16), or both.
  5. Set your stream title, category, and tags (for platforms that support it).
  6. Click Go Live.

That's it. You're streaming.

While You're Live

  • Switch scenes using the Scene Island at the top of the viewport.
  • Adjust audio in the Inspector Panel — volume changes apply in real time.
  • Add or remove sources without interrupting your stream.
  • Monitor stream health via the status indicators in the Toolbar.

Stopping Your Stream

Click the Stop button in the Toolbar. DualStream will cleanly disconnect from all platforms.

Stream Health

DualStream monitors your connection in real time and shows:

  • Bitrate — Current upload speed
  • Dropped frames — Network congestion indicator
  • Encoding — GPU/CPU load for encoding

If you see dropped frames, consider lowering your bitrate or resolution.

Tips for a Smooth Stream

  • Test first — Use an unlisted YouTube stream or Twitch's bandwidth test to verify your setup.
  • Wired connection — Ethernet beats Wi-Fi for stability every time.
  • Close background apps — Free up upload bandwidth and GPU resources.
  • Save your collection — Ctrl+S before going live so you don't lose layout changes.
