Layers
Display Capture
Capture application windows or your entire desktop as a layer source.
Display Capture grabs content from your screen — a specific application window or an entire monitor.
Add a Display Capture
- Open the Sources Panel on the left.
- Available displays and windows appear in the list.
- Click one to add it to your scene.
For fullscreen games, consider Game Capture instead — it has auto-detection enabled by default.
Changing the Source
After adding a Display Capture, you can switch what it captures:
- Select the Display Capture layer.
- Open the Inspector Panel → Properties tab.
- Choose a different window or display from the dropdown.
Audio Track
Display Capture can include audio from the captured application:
- Select the Display Capture layer.
- In the Inspector Panel, enable Add an audio track for the source.
- Toggle CUE to monitor the audio through your headphones.
Performance Tips
DualStream shows an FPS indicator for capture sources to help spot issues:
- A green bar below the target line may indicate a rate mismatch or system bottleneck.
- If a specific source looks choppy but the overall FPS is fine, the issue is with that capture device — not DualStream.
Common Causes of Capture Lag
- System CPU or GPU bottleneck (e.g., demanding game running)
- Display capture of a minimized window (some apps stop rendering when minimized)
- External AI filters running on the captured application
