Silky motion, 4K canvases, and a big catch-up
Thirteen releases' worth of features land on Mac at once. Here are the highlights.
Every source in step with your canvas
Screen and window captures, cameras, browser sources, widgets, slideshows, Clip Reels and animated backgrounds now run at your canvas's frame rate, for fluid, true-to-life motion. Change the frame rate and everything follows instantly; pick 30 fps to leave more headroom for your game.
Room to grow
The Desktop canvas now goes all the way to 4K, and a quick encoder check confirms your Mac is ready before you switch. Change your canvas size and every scene rescales to match, keeping each source's place in the frame. Magic Encoder applies YouTube's recommended bitrates for 1440p and 4K, widgets stay razor sharp on big canvases, and text, images and cameras keep their proportions when their box doesn't match their shape.
A smarter Relay
Magic Encoder now reads your upload in real time and eases off before it saturates, and the pre-live check measures what your connection really carries, so your stream opens at the right rate from the first frame. Dual Format Relay streams share your upload as one budget and reach each platform with the quality your Mac produced. Twitch Partners get up to 7,500 kbps, and ending a stream just ends it, with no leftover standby slate.
Two new widgets: Subathon and Ad Countdown
Subathon runs a countdown that grows with your community. Every sub, gift, cheer, Kick sub, YouTube membership or Super Chat adds time, and you decide what each one is worth. Cap the total if you like; the clock keeps counting between streams until you pause it. Ad Countdown shows viewers how long until your next Twitch ad, then counts the break down. Both live under Magic Widgets, show a chip on the Control Island, and can trigger automations.
A bigger free plan
Multistreaming and stream-key presets are now open to everyone. Free streams run up to 4 hours at a time, and you'll see the limit before you go live and get a heads-up as it runs down.
Choose what each destination hears
Every Relay destination gets an Audio panel: pick the mix your viewers hear and the one your Twitch VOD keeps, so music can play live and stay out of the archive. Build your own custom mixes in Settings, source by source.
Twitch, upgraded
Enhanced Broadcasting is on by default, so viewers get quality options that match their connection, and if Twitch turns it down you still go live with a standard stream. Twitch GIFs now play in your chat box instead of showing up as text, with size and on/off controls in the chat widget settings.
Smoother live shows
Scene switches stay instant while you're live, even with a busy chat or an alert firing. Alert sounds stay in step with your stream, big animated GIFs are decoded once and shared across every scene, and the Control Island shows your live viewer count on each platform. Stream Deck buttons stay bound to the right source in every scene, and each scene keeps its own chroma key.
A clearer encoder
The bitrate controls now show the ceiling your destinations set and tell you before a request gets capped. Magic Encoder reads your connection over a longer window, so a single lost packet no longer looks like trouble, and it settles faster at the rate your connection carries best.
Fixes & polish
- When a channel mutes a layer, its icon says so, and one click unmutes the channel
- Text stays crisp when you resize its box
- Recordings of both canvases start on the same frame
- DualStream opens quickly even on a slow connection, and your platforms sign in in the background
- If your Mac can't run a new canvas size, DualStream keeps your current one
- The Relay backup connection reconnects cleanly after a network drop
- The loading screen no longer gets stuck on an app that has already started
- Moved or unplugged media? DualStream helps you relink it, so your scenes come back exactly as you built them
- Create a DualStream account right inside the app
- Recording starts every time, even with browser sources named by long web addresses
- OBS and Meld imports pick up your default microphone automatically
- YouTube titles are optional again: leave one empty and DualStream fills it in
- Subathon digits stay put when you resize the text, and widgets stay visible at any size
