Collab, Clip, Go Live Faster: What's New in DualStream
DualStream just shipped a run of features that change how you actually stream — how you collaborate with another creator, how you fill the dead air on a BRB screen, and how fast you get from cold open to live. Here's the tour.
DualStream Portal
Collab streams without call software, capture cards, or a routing diagram taped to your monitor.
Here's how it works. You open a Portal and send out your sources — camera, virtual camera, Spout2, or NDI, plus your audio — and DualStream hands you a six-character code. Another DualStream user types that code in, and your feed shows up in their scene as a live source they can position and style like anything else. It runs both directions, so you send a cam and mic and receive theirs in return.
And because it carries virtual-camera, Spout2, and NDI sources — not just a plain webcam — your VTuber rig can travel through Portal too.
One honest heads-up: Portal is an alpha early-release preview and it's evolving fast. Expect it to keep getting better, and expect the occasional rough edge while it does.
New Widget: ClipsReel
Ever stepped away for a quick BRB and left your audience staring at a frozen screen? ClipsReel fixes that. It's a widget that pulls your local DualStream and Twitch clips and shuffles through them live on stream, so there's always something happening even when you're not at the desk. It's made for BRB and stream-starting screens, and it turns that pile of Twitch clips you never revisit into actual airtime. Finally, a use for Twitch Clips.
You get real control over what plays:
- Source — Twitch clips, local clips, or a mix of both.
- Order — arrange the sequence however you like.
- Time window — pull from a specific period, so you can keep it recent or run a greatest-hits.
- Overlay — show the clip title, or the game and the clipper's name, or keep it clean with no text at all.
Drop it on a scene and your "be right back" stops being dead air.
Scene Recipes
A Scene Recipe is a pre-baked combination of sources — a whole canvas layout you can drop in instead of rebuilding it from nothing every time. DualStream ships a set of prebuilt recipes to get you going fast, and you can save your own current layout as a recipe to reuse later. Dial in a look you love once, save it, and bring it back in a click next stream.
The bottom line
Portal makes collabs trivial, ClipsReel keeps your screen alive when you're not, and Scene Recipes gets you live faster. All of it is in the app right now (Portal in early preview), and it's all part of the same goal: less time wrestling the software, more time actually streaming.
