Standby Scene
Design the scene your viewers see from DualStream's servers while your connection is down.
Every scene collection has a Standby scene. When your connection drops during a Relay stream with Disconnect Protection on, our servers play it to every platform, so your channels stay live and your viewers stay with you.
Find It
The Standby scene sits first in your scene bar, set apart from your other scenes. You can also open it with the Standby screen button in the footer. It can't be deleted, but you can redesign it as often as you like.
DualStream starts you off with a background, your chat and a "Be right back" line.
What You Can Add
The Standby scene plays from our servers, so it's built from things that don't need your PC:
- Images, videos, Giphy, slideshows, audio files and text
- A Clip Reel of your Twitch clips
- Chatter Box, Goal Rush, Predict-o-Matic, Ad Countdown and Subathon widgets
- Your alerts
Cameras, screen and window captures, browser sources and global sources live on your PC, so they aren't offered in the Standby scene. Text uses fonts that ship with DualStream or fonts you've imported, and DualStream lets you know if a font only lives on your PC.
Your design saves to our servers automatically each time you change it.
When Your Connection Drops
- DualStream shows Connection lost. You're on Standby and switches your studio to the Standby scene, so you see what your viewers see.
- Our servers keep every platform live on your Standby scene, with chat, alerts and your subathon timer still running.
- The moment your connection carries again, DualStream cuts straight back to the scene you were on. If you picked a different scene in the meantime, it stays there.
FAQ
Do I need Premium?
The Standby scene is in every collection, and you can design it any time. Playing it to your viewers during a drop needs Relay with Disconnect Protection, which is part of Premium.
Can I put my camera in the Standby scene?
No. Your camera lives on your PC, and the Standby scene plays while your PC is offline. Use an image, a video or a clip reel instead.
